These are 8 simple ways for ultimate skin hydration!

Munirah Bahri / 24/12/2018

Malaysia is known to be the hottest countries in the world. Okay a little bit of exaggeration there. But, being situated in the middle of the equator contributes in giving this beloved country of ours it’s hot and humid climate. It’s easier to be parched in a normal day in Malaysia, cars feels like the inside of a hot oven after being parked for a couple of hours out in the sun, us accidentally getting tanned even if it’s not doesn’t look that hot outside.

Not only that, the hot weather make our skin more prone to be dry and fry while being out and about outdoors. And trust us, it’s not a pretty sight to look at. So, in exchange for a beautiful, hydrated, and healthy looking skin, we gotta work on it. Our skin will not hydrate itself so it is up to us to keep it moisturised and supple for a better looking skin with these simple ways for skin hydration.

Pick The Right Moisturiser

Hydration - Pick The Right Moisturiser

First thing first, check your dresser or vanity table, is there any moisturiser in sight? If yes, is it the right one for your skin? If no, well what are you waiting for? Head to the nearest drugstore this instance! Way to a good skin hydration regime is that you must moisturise it diligently and can never forget this step, ever! One thing to take note is remember to choose the right moisturiser for your skin. Best pick for all types of skin is to opt for water-based moisturiser. Even though it will differ in formulation for each skin type, but you can never go wrong with a water-based one.

Exfoliate The Skin

Hydration - Exfoliate The Skin

Now you’ve done picking the right moisturiser, it won’t absorb right into your skin as effectively, if you don’t exfoliate your skin. Our skin sheds off dead skin cells every couple of weeks or so, but the thing is, they won’t just disappear from our skin. You gotta exfoliate those dead skin cells off of your face. That way, our skin will absorb our moisturiser 10 times more effective. However,  make sure you don’t over exfoliate, not more than once or twice a week and you’re good to go. You don’t want to tear your skin and dries it out thus cause an irritation.

Invest in an Air Humidifier

Hydration - Invest In An Air Humudufier

There are some days when we’re relaxing in the summer (which is in this case, everyday, all year long) in the comfort of our room, or any part of our home and then we started to feel like our skin is getting dry up, might be a little itchy, worst case, got patches of dry skin. If that sounds like a familiar situation to you, then you might want to consider in investing an air humidifier for your home. Air humidifier is good for retaining back the moisture into your surroundings and result into and one of the simple ways for a good skin hydration.

Don’t Skimp on the Sunscreen

Hydration - Dont Skimp On the Sunscreen

Sunny days are a blessing in no disguise, no doubt about that. It energizes us to keep the day moving and the best provider of vitamin D. But don’t go laying out in the sun all day without even layering your skin with sunscreen, that would just be foolish. Even if you’re not out for a tan, you should wear sunscreen outdoors as UV rays can weaken your skin’s natural barrier which then rob your skin’s moisture. Wear it, re-apply it for a more beautiful skin for wonderful hydration.

Your Limbs got Skin too!

Hydration - Your Limbs Got Skin TooWe can’t tell you how many people have forgotten about these parts, your hands and legs need moisturising too! You want younger looking skin, better take care all parts of your body then. Don’t forget to moisturise your neck too when you were finishing up with your skincare routine. Dry skin tends to promote wrinkles all over our skin, so to avoid those circumstances, make sure to lather your whole body with moisturising lotion for that beautiful skin with great hydration.

Drink up!

Hydration - Drink Up

Yes we know it’s a cliche, people keep telling us to keep drinking water for that supple skin everyone is on the hunt for. Well, can’t blame them because it’s simply the easiest way for a hydrated skin. Drink before you start a workout as well as after you’re done. Keep a bottle of water by your bedside so that you can take a gulp of water as soon as you wake up to keep up with the daily recommendations of 8 glasses of water per day.

Mask, mask, mask

Hydration - Wear Mask

Noticing that your skin is a bit dry lately? Try out one of the thousands of moisturising masks available in your nearest drugstores. If investing something factory-made is not your thing, try making out mask out of the ingredients in your kitchen. One of the simple way for a hydrated skin is an oatmeal-honey mask, which is mixing one part of oatmeal combine with one part of honey and add a bit of water for that enriching and moisturising mask.

Eat the Right Kind of Food

Hydration - Eat the Right Kind of Food

To have a hydrated skin, you’re not only have to wear the certain types of mask or applying the right kind of moisturiser, you also need to eat those food that boost up the hydration of your skin. Food like cucumber (which are usually seen used as an eye mask), tomatoes, watermelon (obviously), are great for hydrating your skin while giving the perfect benefit to your body as they contain nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin A, magnesium and many more
