Every Car Owner Need To Know This – The Basic Things

Tharahni Kalaiselvan / 23/03/2020

Here are basic things every car owner should keep in mind.

Buying a car these days is easy, and even learning how to drive is much easier. But knowing what makes your car work is more complicated, let alone know how to keep it in tip-top shape. Then you would think maybe we would have a better relationship with our vehicles with the amount of money we spend on servicing, maintaining and fixing our cars. All the parts of the vehicle, fluids, guidelines to follow and stuff that may go wrong make the vehicles feel daunting for the owners to fix them. So what is the solution when your car is suffering?

TRY to take the time to at least browse through the manual book of your vehicle. Although you don’t read it word-for-word, go through everything at least. If you’ve already done so, go to your car and try to identify the issues. By the time you do it so, few thoughts might cross in your mind and you don’t have the confidence to figure out the issues on your own. If it’s you, would you try to figure out the problems of your car or send it to the mechanic shop? Of course most of us choose the second option which is send it to the mechanics. But, this is not the fate as you can change it. You don’t have to know all about your car, but on some of the basic elements you should have a handle. As a car owner, to help you feel more confident, here are some important things every car owner should take into consideration.

Manufactured Year

The very first thing you ought to know about your car is the year it was made, the car’s make, and the particular model. It seems like nothing, but you’d be surprised by the number of people who don’t know this detail. On the year or model, they are often confused, can lead to major mistakes. Fluids, components, and accessories for fixing and maintaining your vehicle are all depending on the year, make, and model of the car, so knowing the exact details is important.

Car Owner

Car design, construction and models can change significantly over the course of a year, as well as the parts needed for your car. Next is the identity of your car. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) contains the details of your vehicle. It is a 17-digit number that indicates the location, make, model, engine size, and the date of the manufacture of your vehicle. Throughout the life the VIN remains with the car as the owner doesn’t have to be memorized. The best way of figuring it out is, to stand on the driver’s side outside of the car and look at the dashboard corner where it crosses the window. When you speak to mechanics and insurance companies, the VIN is valuable. If you want to buy a car or buy parts for it, you can use your VIN to find information.

Spare Tire

It’s not designed for your spare tire to add extra decor to your car; it’s there if you get a flat tire. And make sure you get to know where it is (including your jack and other tools) and when you need to replace your tire, you don’t have to look for it. Depending on the vehicle model, spare tires are usually inside the trunk or a trunk panel, but others are placed elsewhere. Checking if the spare is inflated before using it is another good thing to do. The last thing you need is to replace your flat tire and also know if it’s as flat as a board. Changing a tire is an easy task; what needs more effort is managing your vehicle’s entire weight while replacing the tire change. Luckily, your jack will do most of the heavy lifting for you, even though at first it will take a few attempts to get used to it.

Car Owner

Next is the tire pressure, Adequate tire pressure on our vehicles is perhaps the most neglected maintenance issue. You may think that tire pressure isn’t really a huge deal, but you’re so wrong. In fact, it’s one of your car’s most important safety features. The reason behind this is that, its surface touches most of the ground, when the tire pressure is low and can cause friction between the road and the tire. Your tires wear out quickly when this happens.

This can also overheat, leading to separation of the tread, which is an accident desperately looking to occur. On the other hand, too much air is not great either. To touch the ground, it triggers less tire surface, making it a more bumpy ride for everyone. It also causes less traction, leading to suffering from stopping distances. As a result, when slamming your car brakes, it can cause you to misjudge an area. Obviously, if you make an error here, it’s better to have too much stress rather than a lower one. So if you want them to do their best and keep their longest life, use your vehicle’s prescribed tire pressure.

Headlights and Taillights

Some drivers are just getting into the vehicle, starting it and not even worrying about lighting or the fact that it can provide protection. The indicators and tail lamps, even in reduced visibility, ensure that other drivers see you. In order to avoid injuries, this is important. The drivers must be mindful of the fact that daytime running lights are not switching on the tail lights and headlights, but in bad weather, such as rain,  these lamps are required. Part of the concept of “being seen” is that when you go on the road, people see you and this when the headlights are going to do this work. Due to the time and the abrasion from the road a dust layer on the lenses can form, the headlight lenses must be kept clean.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, learning these important details is your first step towards feeling in control of your vehicle, speaking to a trustworthy mechanic and making better decisions for the maintenance of your automobile. Another important thing that car owners should know is that having an insurance for your car. Car insurance is another valuable thing that provides financial protection in case the car is damaged with the right level of coverage.
